France criticises Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon

France has condemned Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, saying the action has caused an unacceptable number of civilian casualties, including dozens of children and women.

Frabce’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expressed its concern about reports of ground incursions by the Israeli army in southern Lebanon, adding that civilians, whether Lebanese or Israelis, must under no circumstances be targeted.

According to the Ministry, France is opposed to any Israeli ground operation in Lebanon.

It called for an end to indiscriminate attacks against civilians.

It also urged Hezbollah and Iran to avoid any action likely to lead to further destabilisation and regional conflagration.
