Engr Adekoya emerges ODERA Chairman, vows to unite the estate and improve infrastructures
On Saturday 29 November 2025, the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Estate Residents’ Association (ODERA) took a giant step to democratically effect a change in the leadership of the estate, by overwhelmingly electing Engineer Adekunle Kehinde Adekoya as its Chairman.
Engineer Adekoya shattered the myth around the power of incumbency when he attracted a whooping 55 votes to 20 polled by his rival contestant, the out-going Chairman, Engineer Obarotimi.
Obviously a man of the people, most of the electorates bust into victory songs after the Electoral Committee Chairman, Pastor Anthony Akiyode announced the results.
In a show of good sportsmanship, the outgoing Chairman Engineer Obarotimi, through a post on the ODERA WhatsApp Platform, congratulated the newly elected Chairman.
“I congratulate my successor, Engr. Kehinde Adekoya, on his well-deserved victory, winning with 55 votes against 20. This is a remarkable achievement and a celebrated milestone in our political journey. His emergence is a plus to the democratic strength of ODERA and a sign of our collective maturity.” He said.
The newly elected Executive Officers are Dr Akeem Makinde (Vice Chairman); Mrs Lateefat Solarin (General Secretary); Mr Wole Orebajo (Assistant General Secretary); Pastor Bayo Ajayi (Financial Secretary); Mr Dimeji Taiwo (Social Secretary); and Alhaji Bilesanmi (Internal Auditor). Others are Evangelist Segun Ajide, and Mr Olorunfemi.
with the peaceful conduct of its first competitive elections in history.
The elections which involved seventy-five voters, recorded the highest number of residents for any gathering. The election was also the first competitive election in the history of ODERA.
