EFCC issues stern warning to skit makers over unauthorised use of operational gear

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has condemned the unauthorized use of its operational gear in comedy skits, particularly in response to the resurfacing of an old video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala” on social media.

In a statement released on Monday via X, the anti-graft agency expressed concern over the misrepresentation of its operatives in such productions. 

The EFCC emphasized the need for skit makers and content creators to refrain from using its operational attire illegally, labeling the portrayal of its agents in the video as a “caricature” of their professional conduct.

The commission criticised the depiction of its operatives as bullies, stating, “Operatives of the EFCC are trained as refined modern law enforcement officers, embodying decency, civility, and respect for the public.”

The EFCC reiterated its warning to content creators, urging them to stop the unauthorized use of its equipment, and highlighting the potential damage such portrayals can cause to the agency’s image.
