PDP, Governors Forum back Ighodalo, accuse INEC of manipulation in Edo Election

 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Governors Forum have thrown their support behind Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, asserting that PDP candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo won the recent Edo State governorship election. 

Fintiri criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allegedly violating the Electoral Act and allowing the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate election results.

While APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo currently leads in the ongoing results collation, the PDP maintains that Ighodalo was in a clear lead based on polling unit results before the APC allegedly intervened. 

In a statement, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba claimed the APC conspired with certain INEC and security officials to falsify results.

The PDP warned that any attempts to alter the election outcome would result in significant backlash from the people of Edo State. 

They emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity of the electoral process and urged INEC to ensure that its final announcements reflect the true will of the electorate.

The PDP Governors Forum praised the high voter turnout in Edo and commended the efforts of governors in monitoring the election process. 

They reiterated their commitment to democratic values and urged INEC to honor the electorate’s choices, particularly in the face of national economic and security challenges.
