EdoDecide2024: Obaseki praises voter turnout, calls for smooth collation
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki praised the high voter turnout during the elections, highlighting the commitment of citizens who braved heavy rain to cast their votes.
Arriving at his polling unit in Ward 4, Unit 19 at Emokpae Primary School around 11:50 am, Obaseki completed his accreditation and voted shortly after.
He noted that the enthusiastic participation reflects the electorate’s interest in this critical election.”The turnout is impressive despite the weather. The ballot box in my unit is full, indicating strong voter mobilization,” he said.
“This election is crucial for us in Edo State, particularly for the youth who are eager to express their civic duty.”Obaseki expressed satisfaction with the voting process in his area, urging for a seamless and peaceful collation of results.
He acknowledged the military’s presence, stating, “The Chief of Defence Staff assured me that his men are fully deployed and doing a commendable job.”
However, he raised concerns about reports of individuals impersonating police officers at polling stations, calling for vigilance and integrity throughout the election process. He assured that his situation room is operational, actively monitoring developments.”We hope for a peaceful conclusion to this election,” he added.
